March 13, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians of Logansport Students,

Logansport School Administration Staff and area Superintendents from the immediate outlying schools met to discuss plans for the coming days in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are utilizing guidance from the Indiana Department of Education, direction from Governor Holcomb, information from the Center for Disease Control, our county health departments, and other guidance being provided to Indiana’s K-12 public schools to make the most informed decisions possible at this time.

The decision has been made to cancel school for all student’s March 16, 2020 - April 3, 2020. This includes all sporting and extra-curricular events, practices, and any additional school activities in which students would be involved.  Logansport staff will work on Monday, March 16th to do extensive in preparation for potential eLearning days. Logansport Schools will be cancelled with no eLearning required of students (up to 20 “waived” days have been issued by the state at this time) during the following dates:

March 16-20: School Cancelled (No eLearning)
March 23-27: Spring Break
March 30-April 3: School Cancelled (No eLearning)

Students were informed today near dismissal time regarding the plans for this
timeframe. All LCSC students are being sent home with their student laptops in
preparation for the use of eLearning. We are working to provide laptop chargers for
students K-5. In the meantime, you can use a USB-C laptop charger to charge their
device (a phone charger cannot be used for this). More information on laptop charger
pickup will be announced at a later date. On Monday, March 16th, parents will be able
to pick up student medication between 9:00 am-3:00. If you are not able to pick up medication during this time, please contact your child’s school. We know many
students rely on LCSC Food Services for meals. We are working diligently with our
Food Service Staff to set a time for meal pickup. Once meal distribution is arranged,
we will communicate that information with our families.

This is a very fluid situation and we will continue to update more information as we are notified. We will communicate to families as to plans beyond April 3rd at an
appropriate time in the future. We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we
attempt to navigate this extremely difficult situation. Updated communication efforts
and additional information about COVID-19 can be found on our website
